What is the correct word for a medical doctor?

Postby landau.mike_86765 » March 28th, 2018 9:32 pm

I was doing your flashcards, and I received the word "doctor". Your flashcards say that the correct translation in French is docteur. I just wanted to say that when I studied French previously, I was taught that the correct word for a medical doctor in French is médecin. As far as I know, the word docteur is used for someone with a PhD, not a medical doctor. Are you sure that your flash card is correct?

Thank you,

Hello and thank you for your comment !

You are right, but in everyday language we make no difference. "Docteur" is often used by children, yet.

Bonne journée
