Welcome to Three Step French Practice by FrenchPod101.com. In this lesson, you will practice how to talk about transportation. |
Let's look at the main dialogue. |
Two people are having a conversation. |
À 19h. Je vais à la Comtesse à pied. Est-ce que tu veux venir avec moi ? |
"At 7:00 PM. I'm going to La Comtesse on foot. Do you want to come with me?" |
Je suis fatigué. Je vais y aller en taxi. |
"I'm tired. I'm going to go there by taxi." |
In this conversation, both people talked about how they would get to the destination. This person |
Says Je vais à la Comtesse à pied. "I'm going to La Comtesse on foot." |
In this sentence, we have the expression à pied, meaning "on foot," and it is preceded by the preposition à. |
À is used with the means of transportation you're on, like walking or biking. |
Then, this person |
Says Je vais y aller en taxi. "I'm going to go there by taxi." In this sentence, we see the phrase en taxi, which means by taxi. The preposition en is used here to indicate the means of transportation. In French, en is commonly used with transport you ride in, like a car or a bus. |
Let's practice with more transportation vocabulary in this lesson. |
