Do you know how to talk about past events in French?
Welcome to Three Step French Practice by FrenchPod101.com. In this lesson, you will practice talking about completed actions in the past using le passé composé with avoir.
Let's look at the main dialogue.
Two people are having a conversation.
Alors, ton pique-nique de dimanche, c'était comment ?
"So, how was your Sunday picnic?"
Super ! On a trouvé un bel endroit près du lac.
"Great! We found a beautiful spot near the lake."
On a trouvé
This sentence includes a verb in le passé composé, or past tense for completed actions.
In French, we use le passé composé to talk about specific actions that were completed in the past, like something that happened once or over a set period of time.
It's built using two parts:
a present-tense form of the verb avoir, meaning "to have,"
and the past participle of the main verb, which describes the action.
We'll keep practicing how to talk about finished actions in the past using le passé composé.
Let's begin.
