Becky: Alright, listeners, why is your reason so important for motivation...
Peter: ... and overall success?
Becky: Peter, wouldn’t you say that often reasons are tied in with goals?
Peter:That’s right, Becky. Listeners, more often than not, your “why” is directly related to your goal...
Becky: Like... “I want to live in the country where it’s spoken.”
Peter: ...or “I want to understand the culture, the movies, and music.”
Becky: But sometimes, it can also be something simple like... “I’m simply interested in it”
Peter: Exactly, but regardless of your reason, by simply knowing it and writing it down...
Becky: ...you’ll be able to maintain motivation and keep going. Is that what you do, Peter?
Peter: You got it, Becky. Right now, I’m learning German, and I keep my reasons and goals written down, sitting in front of me so I can always remind myself.
Becky: And does that really work for you?
Peter: Definitely. Simply putting your goals down on paper increases your success probably by 90%...
Becky: Wow.... and revisiting and reviewing the goals keeps you focused on them, right?
Peter: Right. I think about it more. And thoughts lead to action, so I end up studying almost daily.
Becky: I see! So listeners, what’s your reason for learning? Be sure to write it down!
Peter: And if you’re interested in what other language learners are saying...
Becky: We’ve asked... and here are the Top 10 Reasons for Learning a Language.
Peter: Number One: I love the culture and the people who speak the language.
Becky: This is a popular answer. Especially amongst our Japanese and Korean learners.
Peter: Number to Two: I want to understand my favorite songs, movies, and TV shows. Also a very popular one.
Becky: That’s right. And listeners – songs, movies, and shows are great ways to immerse yourself in the language!
Peter: And if you’re spending your time learning AND also on such immersion, you’re guaranteed to learn faster.
Becky: Number Three: It's a beautiful language.
Peter: You know, sometimes, an answer as simple as that, is really good enough.
Becky: Yeah, it means you have a genuine interest in the language itself.
Peter: Number Four: My family comes from a place where the language is spoken.
Becky: The fifth one is similar: I want to speak to my partner's family in their language.
Peter: I can definitely relate. I learned Chinese to be able to speak to my wife’s family.
Becky: Nice. The sixth one is also in line with these: I am learning the language to impress someone.
Peter: Listeners, are you learning a language to impress or talk to someone special?
Becky: Definitely a powerful motivator.
Peter: I agree, Becky. That was one of my reasons once too! The seventh one is: I love traveling!
Becky: By the way, if that’s your reason... be sure to check out our Survival Phrases Lessons...
Peter: Becky, you’re quite the traveler.
Becky: I am! I love traveling!
Peter: Do you study the language of the country you go to, before you go?
Becky: Last time, I couldn’t find much on the language because not many tourists go to the country I went to... but I tried!
Peter: So, Survival Phrases, Becky, they’re perfect for travelers that need the just basics to get around.
Becky: That’s all I did learn, yes! Number eight: I live or want to live in a country that speaks the language.
Peter: This one is also very powerful and why I mastered Japanese.
Becky: Number Nine: I just love learning languages!
Peter: What’s great about this is...if you’ve learned one... some say, it’s EASIER to learn another.
Becky: Because you learn HOW to learn a language, right?
Peter: Exactly, Becky. The second time around is, some say, a lot easier than the first.
Becky: I guess it depends on the language. Listeners, if you want to know how to learn a language with proven strategies and tactics...
Peter: ...be sure to check our exclusive Inner Circle Lessons. They’re available to all Premium and Premium PLUS members.
Becky: And the last one, number ten: I want to open my mind and become more international.
Peter: In other words, self-improvement.
Becky: So listeners, what are your reasons?
Peter: Let us know in the comments. Also...
