Eric: Hi everyone, I'm Eric.
Yasmine: And I'm Yasmine.
Eric: Showing Your Gratitude.
Eric: In this lesson, you'll learn how to use a sentence pattern for expressing gratitude to someone for doing something.
PATTERN
Eric: For example, "I appreciate your support."
Yasmine: J'apprécie votre soutien.
Yasmine: [slow] J'apprécie votre soutien.
Eric: The pattern for expressing gratitude to someone for doing something has 2 elements. First, the expression "I appreciate."
Yasmine: J'apprécie.
Eric: Second, the complement, in this case "your support."
Yasmine: votre soutien.
Eric: Altogether, we have "I appreciate your support."
Yasmine: J'apprécie votre soutien. [slow] J'apprécie votre soutien. [normal] J'apprécie votre soutien.
Eric: First you have the expression "I appreciate," followed by a complement.
Yasmine: J'apprécie votre soutien.
Eric: So remember, to express gratitude, start with the expression "I appreciate," followed by what you’re thankful for.
Eric: Here's another example meaning, "I appreciate your visit." First, the expression "I appreciate."
Yasmine: J'apprécie.
Eric: Second, the complement, in this case "your visit."
Yasmine: ta visite.
Eric: Altogether we have...
Yasmine: J'apprécie ta visite. [slow] J'apprécie ta visite. [normal] J'apprécie ta visite.
