To ask the day of the week, you can say...

Quel jour de la semaine sommes-nous ?

To ask which day an event takes place, say...

Quel jour de la semaine est... ?

Followed by the event, like...

Quel jour de la semaine est l'examen ?

Quel jour de la semaine est l'examen ?

C'est mercredi.

Quel jour de la semaine est le concert ?

C'est vendredi.

Let's practice.

You meet Ben.

Ask him what day the exam is.

C'est mercredi.

Now, meet Emily.

Ask her what day the concert is.

C'est vendredi.
