Jason: The Général de Gaulle is certainly the most admired French historical figure since he was the leader of the resistance movement against the Nazis during World War II. From London he organized the defeat of Germany, and then arrived in Paris victorious on May 8th, 1945, to liberate the city. After that, he was elected president of France.
