1. Indeed, you may say "Que faites-vous" when asking about the occupation!😄
2. "Que fais-tu" is informal and must be used with someone you already know (like a friend, a colleague...)
If you want to be polite, you must use the "vouvoiement": "vous" instead of "tu"
