Can we have lessons on number?

Postby seasurfer » May 31st, 2008 1:24 pm

May we have lessons on number? Like how to count, how to pronounce the year in French?

Salut.

Thanks for your response. I am so happy to see these lessons are coming...but, isn't it a bit a long to wait until lesson 18? It is only lesson 5 now, that means I have to wait for 3-4 months. Can we have more beginner lessons per week?

What does coucou mean?

Coucou

Postby Teacherangele » June 2nd, 2008 11:20 pm

Coucou is another way to greet as Salut, but even more informal!

I use it in emails or IM for my friends and family members!

It is the sound that the little bird do when coming out of the clock to mark the hour!

Okay , here's a sample:

let me give you at least today's date in numbers: 2008-06-02
So it would be le 2 juin 2008

2008 Deux mille huit [duh mil uit]
6 six [sis]
2 deux [duh]

To say 1998:

Mille neuf cent quatre vingt dix huit
same as 1000 + 9 + 100 + 4 + 20 + 10 + 8

Pretty good, Sternwarte. (concerning the year 1998)

To remember this number easier, it really should be
=> 100 + (9 x 100) + (4 x 20) + 10 + 8 = 1998 :wink:
Mille neuf cent quatre-vingt dix-huit!
