Bonjour!

December is already half past! And it is time to introduce a place to enjoy in cold snowy weather- France:

Annecy lake: between sky and land!
With its exceptional landscape of Lake and mountains, its cultural, sporting and games activities, friendly events and grand festivals, the Lake of Annecy is sure to charm you with:

its Christmas Festivities
Which include villages decorated for the holidays, Christmas markets, and a Christmas Festival only for kids! All of this is completely free!

A Grand, Snowy Carnival
The carnival in February offers shows, animations, and a nocturnal torch-illuminated parade of skiers.

And for those who are more inclined to burn calories, take part in the...

Paret Competition
It is a friendly competition to do with your family and friends on the sled ancestor "le paret." It is a traditional wooden sled born in the region of Annecy. It only has one runner equipped with an inclined board that people sit on, with a stick to direct the sledge. (sled or sledge?)
It was used traditionally by the village kids to go to school in winter while going downhill on the snowy roads.

Menthon-Saint-Bernard Castle

Still inhabited by the same family since the 11th century, built between the 11th and the 19th centuries, it still preserves many of its original furnishings and period interiors. On weekends and public holidays visits are animated by actors in period costume.

Center for Scientific, Technical and Industrial Culture

At the crossroads of science, culture and innovation, the Center for Scientific, Technical and Industrial Culture (CCSTI) offers an easy, fun and didactic way of learning. Within the 1000sqm of exhibition space, you are encouraged to explore, handle, play and learn... as active visitors

Natural Reserve Roc du Chere

situated on the east side of Lake Annecy, it contains various flora and fauna and allows for breathtaking panoramic views on the lake and Talloires Bay.

The Port of the Moon is an outstanding urban and architectural environment from the age of the Enlightenment, with more protected buildings than any other French city except Paris. Its urban form represents the success of philosophers who wanted to make towns into melting pots of humanism, universality, and culture.

It has been known as a place of cultural exchange for more than 2,000 years, particularly since the 12th century due to commercial links with Britain and the Low Lands.

World Memory List

The Tapestry relates historical events and the way of life in the Middle Ages, during the 11th century in particular.
