Learn French with FrenchPod101.com! You finally made it to France, or rather, you’ve almost made it. The last hurdle is clearing the French customs counter. That’s not so hard, is it? Then why do you feel nervous as you approach the French customs officer? As you walk up to the counter, your palms sweating, you just hope you understand what he asks you in French. He says in French, “Passport, please.” Easy enough. You hand him your passport and await his next question in French. As he scans your passport for information about you, he asks in French, “You’re from California?” You respond in French, “Yes,” hoping that the officer doesn’t have anything against Los Angeles. “Ah,” the customs officer reflects in French, “California is such a happy place.” You wonder how your state keeps earning this good reputation despite the famous earthquakes, brownouts, and wildfires, but you’re too nervous not to agree. “Yes, it’s a beautiful state,” you assert in French. The passport officer wishes you a good stay in France, and you’re on your way. Whew!
