Learn French with FrenchPod101.com! Ah, to market, to the French market! You walk by the various booths with French cheeses, fruit, vegetables, and the…the…what the heck is that? It’s some sort of French animal carcass, that much you can tell. It looks interesting, so you ask the vendor in French, “Can you tell me what that is?” He explains in French, “It’s a rabbit. You can serve it with fresh cream. It’s delicious!” You’ve always enjoyed eating whatever cute animal is on the menu, so you ask how much the rabbit costs in French. He replies, “Five euros.” Sounds like a good French bargain to you! Your friend shakes her head and says, “I’m not eating that.” You see what else this interesting French vendor has to offer, and you gather up some goat cheese and fruit for your friend. The vendor says in French, “That’s twenty euros, please.” You hand the guy a bill worth five hundred euros, and your friend exclaims in French, “If I knew you had more money, I would have asked you to buy me a lot more French food!”

Last weekend I spent the night in my friend’s Southern French home. She invited all of my closest friends over, which was great! Many of us have moved to different regions of France since we left school and we have lost touch. We sat all night at her dining table eating this fantastic French cheese fondue she served! It was a perfect choice to keep us all at the table while we ate! The longer we sat eating this French raclette, the more we talked! We were so lost in reminiscing we lost track of the time and were shocked when we realized it was 3:00 am! The French wine and raclette complemented each other as well as the French friendships we rekindled. There’s no better conversation starter than French raclette!

From across the room your eyes meet. He’s tall, dark, and very handsome. But…where is he from? You only speak English and French; what if he doesn’t speak either. He doesn’t really look French…does he? Maybe his French beret blew off in the wind…but it’s not very windy. Maybe he just left it at home tonight. But then…where is his tiny moustache? Maybe he shaved it off after his soccer match because he has a job interview in Paris tomorrow. Well, he is drinking a bottle of French wine and eating cheese so he must be French! But, then again…so are you and you are not French. The mystery man is headed your way though, so you are about to find out! Quick, how do you say, “does my breath smell okay” in French?
