Learn French with FrenchPod101.com! You just arrived for your first day on your new job in France. Everyone seems very interested in getting to know you…only they seem to have one thing in mind! A charming young woman approaches you and hesitantly asks you in French, “What are your responsibilities here?” It’s a strange first question, but you answer in French, “I am in charge of marketing, what are you responsible for?” She almost falls over breathing a huge sigh of relief and welcomes you aboard. Moments later, another colleague hesitantly approaches you and asks in French, “I am in charge of system analysis, what are you responsible for?” After answering the gentleman, he breathes a sigh of relief, welcomes you aboard, and scurries off. After witnessing this event several times in a row, you finally pull a French coworker aside and ask why everyone is so preoccupied with his responsibilities. Hmmm…it appears you have been hired to fill someone else’s faltering responsibilities in the French office! GREAT! So much for making friends!
