Bonjour mes auditeurs préférés!

Munia,

Me neither, I have to say! Once when I was in my 20s, I wanted to fire myself! The relation with my supervisor was not the greatest. But I honored my temporary contract to keep my "chômage" benefit! Now I surely would handle the situation differently!

Careyxxx,

Nice remark you have here Careyxx.
To lay off is "mettre quelqu'un au chômage technique".
So “My co-worker got laid off” is "Mon collègue a été mis au chômage technique."

Another way to say "fired" is "licencier"
1 - Le directeur a licencié 10 employés. (The director fired 10 employees.)
2 - Mon collégue a été licencié. (My colleague got fired.)

My boss had to "lay off" a co-worker in our ESL school. There weren't enough students in the class. Some people get "laid off" mixed up with "fired".
How do you say in French: "My co-worker got laid off"?

I have not yet been fired! Just made mistakes here and there! Unfortunately, I'm not perfect! Hmmmm maybe some day ... Actually my bosses never had to fire as most of the time I had temporary contracts! Have you ever been fired?
