How many times have you seen girls (and sometimes guys) screaming and crying on the front row at a concert? Yes, there is something sexy about a man playing a guitar…if he isn’t wearing spandex and over fifty-years-old, I guess. Wouldn’t it be something if we all received that sort of treatment? Imagine it! You are on your way to work at a little French coffee shop. You open the front door to your modest little apartment in Paris, when suddenly flashes erupt from everywhere! How did the French paparazzi find you again? You rush out the door, swarmed by a nest of hungry vultures, dying just to catch a glimpse of you to spread across the gossip pages! They beat down the doors of the French coffee shop all day, screaming and chanting your name in French, “Your Name, Your Name, Your Name!” On second thought, I enjoy being the vulture! By the way…purely out of curiosity, what is it that you do? Free lance investment banker? Lingerie model? Podcaster? (We wish!)

Learning French with FrenchPod101.com is the most fun and effective way to learn French! In this French Beginner lesson, Sweety Aurélie is admiring Pimpel Daniel’s brother and asking about his job. Daniel blows off some steam at her, as she starts to get quite annoying! You will learn how to ask about someone’s occupation in French, taking care to use the right article. We will then look at some traditional French professions. je lui plais?

What was the strangest question someone asked you about a family member?

How do you say in French “I like your older brother”?
J’aime ton frère aîné. (Is that correct?)

Pimple Daniel must be disappointed that Aurilie likes older guys. How does he ask her “Dans quoi es-tu, les mecs plus agés?” (Is that correct?)

Celine says:

Oui j’aime ton frère aîné, c’est correct. Tu peux aussi dire : “J’aime ton grand frère”.

but if Daniel wants to ask Aurélie, it would be :

” Tu préfères les mecs plus âgés ?” (use this only with friends  )

Did I just hear Celine say in that she is unemployed (near the end at 13:40 minutes)?

It sounded that chomage has a feminine form? So if I were to say “He is unemployed” it would go “Il est au chômage”.

How would you say “SHE is unemployed”? I would have just went “Elle est au chômage”. Just wondering how you would SPELL the feminine form of chômage??

Hi everybody! Bonjour tout le monde ^^
thank you so much for commenting! Merci beaucoup pour vos commentaires!

careyxxx:”J’aime ton frère aîné.” is a correct sentence! ^^ it also could be translated by “I’m in love whith you older brother”, so if you rather wanna say “I apreciate your older brother like a Friend” you should say “J’aime bien ton frère ainé” or “J’aime beaucoup ton frère ainé”.
You can also use “grand frère” instead of “frère ainé”.
If it’s more about how he look you can say “Je trouve ton frère ainé mignon” or “il est mignon ton grand frère”.
In french you cant just translate the sentence “I’m into older men” into “Je suis dans les mecs plus agés?”, because this expression doesn’t exist. You will have to say “je m’intéresse au mecs plus agés”.

Ken: the word chomage is a noun, and it’s “le chaumage”. It doesn’t have an other gender than masculine. So it would be “Il est au chômage” about a man and “Elle est au chômage” for a woman. You could consider it as a verb in the form “être au chaumage”, like that you just have to conjugate the verd “être” and keep the rest like it is.

Hope that will help you both and maybe others too ^_^

à la prochaine!
