Hahahaaaaaa téléphone arabe! Marseille uses that instead of newspapers and TV

Est-ce que vous aimez le café americain? Mon mari l’appelle “jus de chausettes”.

Do you like American coffee? My husband calls it “sock juice”.

Hi Bouks,

Hahaha I understand quite well your husband Bouks. The first time I went to the US and had coffee, I felt the same way.
Maybe have you seen the movie “Bagdad Café” produced in 1987 between Los Angeles and Las Vegas? My favorite line is when the main characxter from Germany or Austria drinks american coffee and calls it brown water!

A must see movie which gives you the point of view of Europeans travelling for the first time in the desert of California and Nevada!

Angele, I didn’t see that movie…I heard a lot about it, but must have been too busy to catch it. I will rent it next time I’m looking for something to watch.

My husband and I did an American cross-country road trip - we followed the Route 66 path and everything, from Virginia to Arizona. Seeing his reaction to the rock formations in the Southwest was really interesting - he was completely stunned. It never gets old for me either!

We have a Nespresso machine in the house (I’m still on vacation in Marseille)…my husband makes this dinky little super-concentrated 30ml drink, while I empty half of the water reservoir to make myself a nice, watery cup of sock juice…and pour milk in it

In English that game is called “Chinese whispers”. I don’t know why either.

Well after a quick checking it seems that we use this word because its the most popular way of communication in Arabic countries. but I assume it was long time ago….

We also named it : le bouche a oreille…. From mouth to ear….
