You are doing great learning French language skills! You can’t wait to travel to France, meet some French people, and practice speaking in French first-hand! But…wait! You’re not ready until you know the most important phrase thus far. Suppose you are chatting away with your new French friends. Suddenly, one of them says a word in French you are not familiar with yet.  You don’t know how to respond! You also realize, you don’t have any idea how to TELL them you don’t understand in French! So, you just sit there thinking…wondering…grasping for any French words you might be able to use to tell them you do not understand what they have said. Finally, at a loss for the right French words, you just tell them “yes.” The whole group bursts into laughter and you have no idea why…what have you said?
