Imagine you walk into a French bakery. The smell of fresh baked apple-cinnamon surrounds you and suddenly you are starving. You find some French Apple Crumb cakes in the case that have a sweet, crumbly topping. However…you want the French cake that has the most crumbly top. If you just ask for “a cake” in French, the nice French woman behind the counter will just pick one she chooses. On the other hand, if you point and ask for “THE cake right there” in French, you are sure to enjoy plenty of crumbs! Learning your French definite and indefinite articles ensures you get the one that you want! If you don’t know the difference, you may be left without any crumbs!
Learning French with FrenchPod101.com is the most fun and effective way to learn French! In this French Newbie lesson, you will learn how to use the French definite and indefinite articles. What type of art do you like the most?
Do you have any art piece you like in particular?
j’aime en particulier l’art contemporain graphique comme Murakami ou Yoshitomo Nara ou les installations et video de Bill Viola entre autres… Fernand Leger, Picasso….
En architecture, Philippe Starck , Kenzo Tange.
En musique, JS BACH (Air for a G string
), oh la la Jean-Sebastien …
et puis il y en a trop pour les citer …….
My favourite music is all French or by French speakers: Debussy, Satie, Chopin (an expat)
I know so much French from French composers, because performance directions are often in French!
We didn’t get the transcript for the most important French phrase of all: “I would like a kiss!”
Also, all this dancing around the two meanings of “kiss”… maybe you’re overestimating our French level but I have no idea what you’re talking about… je non comprend pas… excusez mois! Maybe someone can PM me what they’re actually talking about.
Maxiwawa,
Je voudrais un baiser : I would like a kiss (on the lips)
Je voudrais un bisou : I would like a kiss (can be wherever, I mean wherever on the face)
or Fais moi un bisou (give me a kiss).
Merci beaucoup! I recognise “bisou” from our very first lesson where we talked about the kiss on the cheek that is used as a greeting.
I like many kinds of art, but if I had to choose one type, I’d probably go for surrealism -people like Dali or Magritte. I also find the work of Escher really interesting, and I just love a bunch of contemporary illustrators: Luis Royo, Ciruelo Cabral, Alan Lee… Ah, if only I could be half as good as them…
I love Escher too, i have many books of his paintings at home!
